In this time of violent passage forms of the racial myth, with their intimations of the miracoulous and mysterious, have arisen to give us hope. The result -injustice, unhumanity, genocide assassination- reveal the inadequancy of this way out of our deep anxiety. impotent, too, is the traditional wisdom enshrined in the liturgies of the church, for christians worship has been demonized, transmuted from a witness against us to a means of our self-justification. In order to lead us in creating a new society, in some time yet to come, the christian litugy of word and sacrament must be revivified, purged of its demonic traits filled again with the qualities that it is supposed to have.

Here is youth work - examined from every angle: sociological, psychological, social, theological and, with a particular emphasis, international and interdenominational. The contributing authors speak from their respective Asian, European, or American backgrounds. It is invaluable for every youth worker to know how these diverse approaches play their part in youth work. There are no "pat answers" given here. You will find questions, some disturbings, somoe even irritating. You will find, too, that dialogue begins, and that dialogue is an inspiration -and irritation- to further action.

"The missionary importance of the eucharist" was repeatedly affirmed at the World Conference on Mission and Evangelism held in Melbourne in may 1980. In it´s discussion of the evangelistic task of the church and of mission perspective, the conferene emphatisized again and again the crucial role of the eucharistic experience. It saw "the eucharistic as missionary event", promotinh unity and community and calling people to costly witness..
The reflections and stories brought together in this book affirm and ilustrate how, sharing one bread, we share one mission.
