The collision of values generated by secularism and those promoted by religious fundamentalism have helped create our violent societies. In fact, fundamentalist trends, in the from of extreme religiosity, intolerance and violenc, have arisen in reaction to anthropocentric perceptions and parctices fostered by secularism. If secularism, wich presents itself as a reactive formce, is not contained, it may soon adopted a proactive global strategy aimed at imposing exclusive belief systems and ideologies. To counter the forces of both secularism and religious fundamentalism, religions must promote those core values that are at the heart of all religions.

A book seems so long to the reader and so short to the writer! A good deal had to be cut from the original manuscript of this book to get into a volume of reasonabe size. A chapter on a church´s spiritual preparation for evangelism was omitted in the hope that such preparation might be assumed. A chapter on the evangelism of special economic and cultural group was left out.

Is worship (as christianity has always taught) the psychological mainspring of the moral life, or is it a pleasant recreation fo pious souls?
In this volume, the Bamnpton lectures have been so abridged as to deatach this problem from the other questions there discussed, and to present it in its simplest form.
The abridfement reads continously from end to end, and is in every respect a complete book in itself. It should, therefore, prove valuable to clergy and others who cannot afford the larger edition, as aldo in connection with study circles.

The sermons in this rare and beatiful collection were first preached to 12 people gathered together in a small North Dakota church. Each sunday morning Jung Young Lee rosa before sawn and drove 200 miles to the church to preach. He used no notes. Only later did he write down the extraordinary sermons now gathered together in the pages of this book.
Uniquely personal and biblical, Sermons to the twelve is enriched by Jung Young Lee´s cultural background as a korean american. The sermons illustrations, gathered from a wide range of sources, are masterfully drawn. Preachers will find here an abundance of fresh sermon illustrations, and all readers will discover within these pages much nourishment for the soul.
