A 10 de agosto de 1994 completam-se vinte anos da trágica morte de Frei Tito Alencar Lima, em LÀrbresle, no Sul da França. Em sua dor gravou-se o que de mais hediondo produziu o militarismo brasileiro e, nele, reflete-se a venerável  indignação de quantos acreditam na política como expressão coletiva de principios éticos. O frade dominicano de 28 años sofrera, nos cárceles de São Paulo, incesantes torturas que não lhe abriram a boca, porém lhe cindiram a alma. Banido do Brasil sob o governo Médici, Tito não recuperou, no exilio, a paz que lhe fora seqüestrada. O Suicidio foi o seu gesto de protesto e de reencontro, do outro lado da vida, da unidade perdida. Deizara registrado em seus papéis que "é melhor morrer do que perder a vida".
