Bonhoeffer was only thirty-nine when he was executed in 1945 for his role in the resistence movement against Nazi Germany, yet his thought has been kept alive since then largely through the continuing work of Eberhard Bethge, a close friend and former student, who has devoted his life to making Bonhoeffer life story and writings known to the rest of the world.
