Living in the image of Christ deals with an old theme, the ministry of the laity. But it deals with it in a new way.
The termn "laity" stands for men, women and children "who attempt to live as chrsitians both in the presence of God and in the midst of the world". The "ministry of the laity", therefore, has to do with the human vocation, lived in the light of Christ.
The book takes up three worldwide human quests and examines how christ responds to them: the human search for wisdom as we face the present threat of annihilation of creation -and the response of Christ the sage; the human cry for justice because of the oppresive impact of present economic and political structures- and what Christ the crucified teaches ur in identity as many culture and social groups experience a deep crisis of selfhood -and the way in wich Chrsit the artist can restore God´s image in us.
