Reasonable enthusiast : John Wesley and the rise of methodism / Henry D. Rack - Donación Ana Rita, Carlos, Rubén Pagura Alegría

The strength of Henry Rack´s biography of Wesley lies in its analytical approach to the major historiographical issues in Wesleyan biography. This corrected edition prsents a reliable and beliavable portrait of a complicated figure. Rack marshalls a vast body of evidence in the cause of careful analysis and critical interpretation: his notes present a veritable feast of Methidist and eighteenth-century historiography. He is appropiately wary of his sources in this iconoclasm, and venturesome in his assesments.

Wesley´s England: society and religion in the early eighteenth century. "Primitive christianity": the young John Wesley (1703-38). Converting fires: the origin of the evangelical revival. John Wesley and the rise of methodism (1738-60). John Wesley and the consolidation of methodism (1760-91). Reckonings.
